In the district of Ereğli and Halkapınar, ther ewas excellent trekking and climbing routes for lovers of nature and mounttaineers. The Aydos Mountain, height of 3430 meters, which is the highest mountain in the east of middle Taurus, in the frontier of the Halkapınar and Ereğli, is very suitable for the mountaineering in 4 seasons.
It is possible to climb Aydos in many different ways. The easiest is he climbing at the way of northeast ride, by camping at the spring Kırak, the altitude of 2250 meters, which is 6 mks of south east of Çakıllar Village. Climbing from the Spring Kırak lasts for 6 hours and it requires professional climbing.
Another route to Aydos is following the Stream Çubukluk in the village of Kayasaray. A climbing to the southwest of the mountain can be done by camping in the Dağduası, distance of 8 kms or Bozarmut, distance of 4 kms to the village.
The most difficult way of climbing to Aydos is the way from Delimahmutlu Balık Spring to Aydos. The risk of avalancheis too much at this way in winter, but it is naturel view is very nice in spring and summer. Another way of passing Ereğli to Tarsus through Taurus is startingfrom the Delimahmutlu Village, along the stream Gümüşoluk to reach the Tersakan plateau. To follow the way Papazınbağı, the Tanzıt pasture, the karakapı pasture, Çürükkeler, Göğeri, Yazıgöl, Kapıgöl starts from Terkasan plateau, you can reach the Çamlıyayla( Namrun )
