In Byzantine Age, Ereğli, where was the center of Bishopric, was known as the hometown of a saint called "Yahya in the well". That saint known as Yahya in the well lived with his mother Julia and sister Themistia in Kybistra(Ereğli). St.Yahya chose life of loneliness, he got permission from his mother when he was 13 and left home to live in the countryside. During his journey an angel appeared and showed him the way.  After one day and night walking he was brought to a well. In that well St.Yahya lived for ten years without getting out and died at the age of 23. He was buried in a forest in the city of Barata with the permission of an angel Chrysias. It is understood that St.Yahya started his journey from Ereğli and walk towards to the plain between Karapınar and Karacadağ(the Mount Karacadağ). The well he lived in must be the well at Cadı1(Yeşilyurt) Plateau in the northeast of Akören village where is in that triangle(Ereğli-Karapınar-Karacadağ). That well isnot very deep, it has 8,50x6,00 m. area towards to the southeast direction. The well seems to show building techniques of  6th century BC. At the records of Bzyantine churches, Barata was set in the same direction with Herakleia, Laranda, Derbe and Hyde. So Barata must be the place at "ören(ruins) zone" at the skirts of Karacadağ. Because the distance between the antic city and the well is 4 km. Also at the slopes around the ruins, there are oak trees. You can meet and see lots of churches and chapels from antic age in this area where the christianity was first spread.
